Oops, one more post to the blog only. It's being reported that Ai Iijima, the former adult actress who pretty much defined the 1990s for me (um, long story) has died, apparently by suicide. Very sad. After joining the AV world, she had many ups and downs and amazingly landed on her feet, becoming an accomplished author and mainstream geinojin ("talent").

A pretty lady! Man, that is sad.
Yes, she was on a show called Gilgamesh Night, a kind of late night sex show that would have put the old Benny Hill show to shame. She was the "T-Back Queen" and would show her ass to the camera every episode. My (Canadian) friend once met her in a disco, and she said, "Anta Iran-jin?" (Are you an Iranian?). Ah, the little things in life...
Very disheartening news, especially now. But, I hope the best for any of her survivors.
What a tragedy, I had fallen in love with AI several years ago and not until Maria Ozawa had my eyes been averted. For all her choices and insurmountably legend---love always.
Yes sad. She was there for a week they said. The autopsy was inconclusive too, they're not sure if she really died from suicide or what. Scary stuff. Did you remember Nozomi Momoi, who was killed (likely by her boyfriend)?
I remember Nozomi Momoi, I remember reading about her, probably on wai wai (the english enquirer wannabe version), or perhaps even here. Reading about Nozomi's death at the time didn't shock me as much as reading the article (both stories were high lighted and I read the tragic death of the AV model first then read about the other) about the young people involved in a suicide pack.
The parents of the guy who presumably killed Nozomi Momoi (old boyfriend from high school? no information is made available to us) sued the insurance company, who had refused to pay out due to it being a "suicide." There was some evidence that his death was not suicide but murder, making it seem that both could have been killed by some third party. Anyway, it makes watching her videos very strange and sad.
But like everything else, I'm sure the authorities probably abandoned the case due to the primary victim, Nozomi, being a AV Idol. I read some where that AV models have a stigma attached to their way of life, probably not unlike their equivalent every where else in the world. Sasha Grey pretends to be tone deaf to the general public's chagrin, but in an honorific society such as Japan, the hell AI and Nozomi had to endure was probably cringe worthy.
