Forget-the-Year Party
Tonight is J-List's bonenkai (boh-NEN-KAI), or Year End Party, a big tradition in any company in Japan. Literally meaning "Forget the Past Year Party," it's a time to look back on all that's happened over the past year and say otsukare-sama deshita! (ohts-KAH-ray-sah-mah deh-shta, "thanks for your hard work") to all employees. We'll eat a lot of good food, drink and then hit the karaoke box for some serious anime singing. 2008 was a busy year for J-List, and we all worked hard to bring many cool products from Japan to tens of thousands of customers all over the world. Things weren't always easy, and there are but they were always fun, and we sincerely thank you for being "Friends of J-List" and helping us grow.
Another extra-big update today, with an extra helping of cool toys and anime figures, bento boxes, artbooks, DVDs and more from Japan for you. J-List's staff is locked and loaded, efficiently shipping orders out as they come in. It's a great time for you to browse our selection of items and make an order!

Hey Peter, thanks for maintaining a great blog!. Quick, unrelated question to this post -- it's actually about your beloved iPhone.
I've been torn with purchasing an iPod Touch, or iPhone. However, if I went with the iPhone option I can only say I'd have to cross my fingers and hope the way to have it serviced with a Prepaid plan works.
For those that don't have an iPhone, would you recommend an iPod touch as a good replacement?.

I know you can get the old iPhone with a prepaid plan, I do that whenever I'm home and it's very handy. Try searching around, there might be an option. There is a "data only" option for example, I think. iPod Touch is good too, but you lack the phone part. If you have a phone you are cool with it's not bad.

When I got my new 3G iphone, I sold the old one online, and actually got 200 bucks for it. Now I see what they are doing with those.
I can tell you this: I pay AT&T about $70 a month for the whole service, and it's well worth it to me. I hardly use the crummy PC anymore, save for the printer functions.
