Wanna know what's weird, my feet are smaller than most Japanese women. For normal shoes 22.5, for heels without socks 22.0.

It's really amusing that it's hard for me to find shoes because my feet are too small.

We had a high school friend of my husband's come over from Japan to stay with us for a week. She admitted she was very constipated because she was in the office from morning to night every day, 6 days per week. She is an OL and just doesn't get any exercise.

After walking around all the tourists spots for 2 days, her constitution started to improve so by the time she went home, she was going every day.

I also think for alot of women it's lack of exercise, at least for women in the workforce.

She also told me it is something she never talks about with her boyfriends, which I find abit weird, as my husband and I always talk about bodily functions, I think it's human nature!

Japanese women are an enigma to me, I guess I'll never completely figure them out. Even if I'm a woman myself, I can't really comprehend their feelings...

Vy, interesting comments. I've read that the Japanese have shorter large intestines than Westerners do, which affects this in some way, I'm not really sure. I'm glad to be mixing up things here as much as I can, adding my DNA to their gene pool via my kids and what not ^_^

it's a crying shame, though, for women to suffer with an easily corrected condition. sure, they can keep their rice, just add apples, bananas, oatmeal, whole-grain Cheerios, carrots, and applesauce. no chemicals needed. problem solved.

But I've learned women are more prone to have digestive problems than men, no matter how well they eat. I don't mind not going to the bathroom every single day, in fact I had never noticed I didn't do it until a friend of mine started complaining about her lazy intestines.

Japan is such an uniform society that even physically they are similar! I too wear a size 23.5 and so do most of my nikkei friends. With time though we sort of shrink (all humans) and our shoe sizes tend to get smaller, like the problem my mother is having now a days to find shoes that fit her tiny feet.
